Are you looking for some quick little projects to amp up your home decor? Here are 3 easy interior design hacks you can do today that will make a big impact, with minimal effort. These are all beginner-level projects, and they don’t require a lot of time, so there’s no reason not to give them a try.

1. Cloche Greenery

This is a super easy little project that requires no physical work, and it’s a beautiful decorative piece you can use on your bookshelves, fireplace mantel, or anywhere. Just place a glass cloche over some faux stems or succulents for a simple, yet sophisticated look.

The best thing about this project is you can use it for seasonal decorating…just switch up what’s under the cloche for each Holiday.

Supplies you’ll need:

  • Cloche – I like this one from Target, and IKEA also has a great one
  • Fake stems or succulents – Afloral is my favorite for fake stems, and I like this succulent stem from Pottery Barn, but you can also find some beautiful options at Michaels

2. Add or change furniture knobs

Do you have a piece of wood furniture that has matching wood knobs? Or a set of drawers with no knobs at all? If so, you’re missing out on a great opportunity to elevate their look.

adding knobs to furniture

Replacing knobs is an easy and affordable way to update a piece of furniture or modernize your kitchen cabinets. For replacing basic knobs, all you need to do is unscrew them at the back, and replace them with the new ones.

If you’re adding new knobs or pulls where none exist, you’ll need a drill to create the holes for the knobs. Just be sure to measure carefully to find the center before you drill.

Supplies you’ll need:

  • Knobs – You can get new knobs at Home Depot or Lowes, but the Top Knobs brand is my favorite
  • Screwdriver
  • Drill (only if you’re adding knobs where none currently exist)

3. No Sew Pillow Covers Using Cloth Napkins

Did you know that cloth napkins are 20 inches square? Do you know what else also happens to be that size? Throw pillows!!

Not many people think to use cloth napkins as fabric for their pillow covers, but they have beautiful patterns, and are quite inexpensive compared with buying pre-made pillow covers.

I love this particular project because it’s just so easy, and requires no sewing skills whatsoever. Of course, if you want to sew them and add zippers, I’m not here to stop you.

Here’s a great YouTube video that walks you through this easy project from start to finish.

Supplies you’ll need:

  • Cloth Napkins (2 for one pillow) – World Market is one of my favorites with so many beautiful patterns and styles at an affordable price, but you can find them anywhere
  • A 20″ square pillow – Hard to beat the price of the IKEA INNER pillow at just $4, and I also like this Wayfair Basics pillow
  • Fabri-Tac fabric glue – Find it on Amazon, Michaels, or your local fabric store
  • Paper clips or pins – to hold the final edge together while the glue dries

These three interior design hacks are a great way to elevate the look of your home without a lot of effort or cost.
