There is thisย blank space in our master bedroom that I have always intended to make into a cozy reading nook. I confess, some of my home decorย “intentions” seem to take a very long time to become reality. Does it amaze anyone else how quickly time can pass by? ย I mean, it’s been a year since we’ve been living in this house and I’m just now getting around to decorating this empty space! Where does the time go?
Before
Anyway…here is the blank space in our master bedroom that has been great for housing laundry piles and dirty clothes for the past year. It’s the perfect spot for a few accent chairs!
How to Create a Cozy Reading Nook
There are several things you need in order to create a cozy reading nook in any room of the house. They are:
- Comfortable and stylish reading chair(s)
- Lamp
- Throw blanket for chilly nights
- Decorative Pillows for finding just the right comfy position
- Side Table for holding coffee mugs (or wine glasses), and, of course, books
- Ottoman (optional) for kicking up your feet
- Small decorative accessories – plant/flowers, candle, or other smallย items
After
Once you have all of the pieces you need for your reading nook, it’s time to put it all together. Here is our updated little corner of the room and the pieces we chose. Voilรก…a cozy reading nook.
Time to curl up with a glass of vino and a good book…any recommendations?

Where are your chairs from?
They are the Chrisanna Wingback Chair from Wayfair. Great price (when on sale), and lots of color options!
Lovely! Sometimes the bedroom is the only place one can go to escape, so a reading nook there seems perfect! thanks for sharing on craft schooling sunday, love the mudroom and yellow door too.
How beautiful! Much better than laundry piles;-)
Thanks! I think so, too. ๐
Great use of the space! I like the idea of a little retreat in the master. Thanks so much for sharing with us this week!
Thanks for your comment, and thanks so much for hosting such a great weekly link party!
This came out great! I don’t have a huge master bedroom so doing something quite like this is out of the question, but I do have a chair in there and it’s definitely cozy enough to create a reading nook with it!

Thanks! Sounds like you’ve created a great nook for yourself, as well. You are so right! All you need is a little corner in the room big enough for a chair to create a cozy spot.
