#1 Navy and Gray
This is my all-time favorite color scheme to use for a boy’s bedroom. ย I love the relaxing vibe that is created by pairing masculine navy with soft shades of gray. ย It’s also very neutral, so you can add additional pops of color to it to suit your child’s personality. Add a little red or orange accent color to create a more vibrant look, or mix in different colors throughout the years.

This color palette also works with virtually any theme, from space to dinosaurs, and all kinds of sports.ย Navy and gray is a highly flexible color combo that will work well for your child’s bedroom for years to come!
One of my favorite places to get inspiration and shop for this color scheme is PB Teen. They seem to always have great bedding, rugs, and accessories in these colors.

I love this navy and gray nursery, with that stunning wood accent wall. It’s a feature that will look fantastic in this room all the way through the teenage years.

This next bedroom has simple white walls to keep the room looking light and bright. The gray color shows up in the furniture, rug, curtains, and bedding. Navy blue is then used as the accent color.

#2 Orange and Gray
Orange and gray is another great choice for boys’ rooms. Combining a bold color like orange with neutral gray creates a vibrant, yet masculine look. I especially love how these two colors look paired with warm wood tones.

The trick for using a bright colors like orange in your kid’s room is to use it sparingly. ย In other words, let gray take the lead, and use orange only as an accent…not as your main color. White walls are another great choice for this color palette to keep things light and bright.
Where to shop for orange? Crate & Kids tends to have orange accessories and bedding.
The following kids’ rooms have achieved the perfect balance of orange and gray. See how gray takes center stage, with gray walls and furniture, but the orange accents create a focal point and keep things interesting?

#3 Navy and Green
This is a classic color combination for boys that has been used for years. The timeless pairing of navy blue and cheerful green works for both young boys and teens alike. Navy and green are both strong, masculine colors, so it’s a good idea to bring in neutral shades of white or gray to tone them down a bit. This color combination can also work well in a gender-neutral bunk room or playroom, paired with lots of white.

When it comes to using green in this palette, you can choose anything from a pale green to darker shades of Kelly green or forest green. Any of these various shades will work well with navy blue.
Need a gorgeous green paint color for your bedroom walls or for painting furniture? Take a look at SW Derbyshire,ย SW Tansy Green, or BM Cushing Green.
Here are some examples of this playful, vibrant green and navy color scheme.
I can’t get enough of the bold green painted bed frame in this next room! It makes a major statement, along with the orange pops of color.

Here’s a stunning example of a bunk room that features green and navy blue as the accent colors. It’s such an inviting and playful space for all ages.

I am in love with the orange/grey combo. My son’s room currently is red/grey. I agree that some colors need to be used sparingly.
Thanks for commenting! I love the orange/gray, too! My sonโs room is currently navy and gray, but I keep wanting to add a little orange in there to spice things up. Unfortunately heโs at an age where he wants control over how his room looksโฆsigh. Definitely need to go easy on the orange, or it could look overpowering real quick! ๐
Melissa, This post couldn’t have come at a better time. I am soon to be re-doing my son’s bedroom. He wants camo, he is getting navy and gray . . .but I am liking that orange and gray too! Still time for a final decision. I’ll be sharing the photos with him. Thanks for linking up and sharing with us this week!
Great! So glad I could help provide you with some new ideas!
Love these as well. Now I am going to have to show these to my 16 year old grandson! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

I love these color combinations they are masculine but also have a fun side to them with the use of the brighter color. All really great choices.
Thanks Mary!

Omgosh, I love all of these rooms. The grey schemes with pops of color are fabulous. I don’t know how to choose which one to use! Thanks for sharing all of these inspiration rooms at Merry Monday this week!
Thanks Marie!
These are all so cute! I can’t even decide which one is my favorite. I love the use of gray as a neutral in decorating. We used it in our little boy’s nursery! Thanks for linking up with Bloggy Brunch in June.
I love the gray! Would you mind sharing where you found the lights in the picture labeled โRH Teen?โ
There are a couple of images I used from RH Teen, but I think you might be talking about the hanging pendant lights in the gray and orange room? If so, those were from Restoration Hardware Teen, but unfortunately are no longer available. You can find something similar by doing a Google search for “cage pendant light.” Shades of Light (www.shadesoflight.com) has some great ones!
