It’s the most wonderful time of the year…Halloween, of course! Our Halloween decorating is in full force here at the Welsh house. It has been taking a little longer than usual this year since we just moved in August, and the Halloween bins are still scattered all over the garage. But we’re getting there! This week I made a spooky Halloween bone wreath for our front door. I’ve been using an all-black snake wreath (a la Martha Stewart) for years, but I thought it was time for a change…especially since the front door of our current house is also black.

Here is my finished Halloween bone wreath!

This was a really easy and inexpensive DIY project. The entire project cost only $18 to make! Here’s how I did it:

Supplies

I purchased all of my supplies from Michael’s. This is a great time to buy Halloween supplies from there because everything is at least 50% off! I found the 18″ white wreath in the Christmas aisle, along with the white wire. It was still half off, even though Christmas is a still a long way away. The skeleton bones were part of a “Ground Breaking Skeleton” package. It was marked $12, and then 50% off that price – great deal! The black leaf stem was only $2.50!

Several of the skeleton bones in the package were held together with small screws. I removed those with a screwdriver before placing them on the wreath.

Instructions

To make the wreath, I started out by using my wire to attach the skull at the bottom of the wreath. Next, I added the two hands on either side of the skull, and then placed some smaller pieces of black leaves (that I cut off the larger stem) in between.

I continued to add bones in a random way, wiring each one to the wreath as I went. The more random looking you place the bones, the better, in my opinion. Here’s a look at the finished product before I hung it on the door.

And, here is the finished bone wreath again hanging on the door. I love it!

Have you ever made a wreath for Halloween? If so, I’d love for you to share it with me, because I love all things Halloween! Have a great day everyone!
