I have a major crush on black and white buffalo check right now. Seriously! It’s like a little mini obsession for me. While most people have already started, or even finished, decorating for Fall, I like to wait a couple of weeks and go straight to the Halloween decorating. Halloween is my favorite holiday, after all, so it gets a decorating month all of its own at our house. The month of November is then reserved for “Fall” decorating, and then it’s on to Christmas.
So, anyway, let’s get back to the buffalo check. It may not be the first pattern that comes to mind when you think of the Holiday season, but it really is perfect. Not only does it work great for Halloween, but it works beautifully for Thanksgiving, and even Christmas, too. Really! Check out these beautiful pics and you’ll see what I mean.

See what I mean? The black and white buffalo check pattern is perfect paired with orange for Halloween. Add in some greenery, galvanized metal, white pumpkins, and/or some burlap, and your buffalo check easily transitions into Thanksgiving/Fall. For Christmas, all you need to do is pair this classic plaid with some holiday tree branches, gold accents, or traditional red and green.

I sew a lot and LOVE using buffalo check so your post caught my eye immediately. Your photographs are beautiful! Thanks for sharing, Cheryl
Thanks Cheryl! I wish I had your sewing skills. ๐
I don’t know how, but I stumbled into Buffalo check quite by accident this year. Life you, October is dedicated to Halloween decor and fall decorating starts November 1st. I purchased one Buffalo checked plate at Michael’s and then it grew from there. I figured it would take me all the way through January if I worked it just right. It has been great for Halloween decor and I’ve already planned it out for fall and Christmas! I love versatile decorating pieces! Have a great one!
Sounds like you and I are kindred spirits! I’d love to see your buffalo check decor!
