I know I’m supposed to be working on my laundry room, but my brain is focused on kitchen pendant lights. What’s a girl to do? When we built our new house, we were not veryย excited about the lighting package options available to us through the builder.ย  Even the upgraded packages didnโ€™t have lights in the style we were looking for, and it soon became clear that we would be replacing a lot of lights in our new home. So, we got the โ€œfreeโ€ lighting package, and weโ€™ve been very slowly replacing lights throughout the year.

Our kitchen pendant lights have been begging for replacement for months, and Iโ€™m finally narrowing down the seemingly endless choices for pendants. Iโ€™m hoping maybe you can help me decide so I can get something on order soon!ย

I would say our house style is industrial farmhouse meets coastal cottage. Here is a pic of our kitchen,

Do you see the three pendant lights? ย Just your typical tulip shade pendant light. Now, picture one of these options replacing themโ€ฆ

Option 1 – Glass Globe Pendant Lights

I love the simplicity and subtleness of a glass pendant light. ย But, there are so many options out there. ย Here are a few I’m considering.

Option 2 – Barn Light Pendant

Oh how I love a rustic barn light! ย And the aged finish really speaks to me.

Option 3 – Lantern Pendant

But, then there’s the lantern pendants – I love these, too! They speak to my love of coastal design.

Option 4 – Industrial Cage Pendant

I’ve always been drawn to industrial lights…not sure why, just love them. The rivets, the cage…so fun!

Option 5 –ย Spotlight Pendant

These always remind me of movie spotlights! ย Beautiful industrial style that crosses over to farmhouse, as well.

Option 6 – Farmhouse Pendant

This chicken wire pendant light definitely says “farmhouse!” Too much?

Decisions, decisions!!! ย So, what do you think?ย  Do you have a favorite kitchen pendant light? I’m wavering between several options, right now and could definitely use some input. ย Please feel free to leave your thoughts…I don’t bite! ย Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Lighting really does make a room – and the ones you have are lovely. But getting away from the “matchy, matchy” really does make it unique.

  2. All the lighting fixtures you highlighted are great but I am drawn to the first glass pendants with the Edison bulbs. However, you might want to consider the industrial cage lights as well because they provide some contrast to your kitchen. I’m not sure if that helps but thanks for sharing your ideas on Share Your Style.

    1. Thanks for your comment! I’m definitely leaning toward the glass pendants, but I still haven’t ordered because there are so many options just in that category! I sometimes find lighting really tough to decide on.

    1. Thanks for your comment! I love barn light pendants, too, so if I don’t put them in my kitchen I may have to find another spot for them somewhere in the house. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Tough decisions but I seem to be drawn more to the glass pendents in Option 1 or the metal finishes in Option 5. Good luck with choices and I can’t wait to see the final reveal. Thanks for sharing at #HomeMattersParty

  4. I have something very similar to (maybe the same as?) option 1, that we got from Pottery Barn. We got both the three globe and also the larger option. The three globe looks wonderful and was very easy to install over the island. The larger model was a real challenge over the dining room table, because the frame wasn’t perfectly square. In the end, I would buy them both again. I paired the 3 globe in the kitchen up with an industrial fixture, and I really love the juxtaposition. Good luck!

    1. Thanks so much for the input! Yes, the fixtures in that picture are from Pottery Barn. I keep hearing good things about them. I really like your idea of pairing them up with an industrial fixture!
