Bohemian style has become super popular over the past few years, and I found the perfect place to implement this style in our current home! In this post, you see the before and after pics of our bohemian bathroom, including links to all of the products at the end. I’m excited to show you my bathroom mini makeover!

BATHROOM BEFORE

We are currently renting our house, which means that our ability to make changes is very limited (which is so very hard for a DIY-crazed couple like us). Here are some pics of our bathroom before I got the itch to do a little makeover.

The bathroom is a decent size, but lacks any character whatsoever. The walls are white, the floors are a medium brown tile, and the vanity and mirror are a dark espresso color. Plenty of good, neutral stuff to work with, but just not very exciting by itself, ya know?

Since this is our only bathroom downstairs for guests to use, I wanted it to be interesting and fun, which meant it needed to be given some personality.

I felt like this bathroom was asking to be taken in one of two directions. I could either go with a Mediterranean look, which seemed like an easy choice with the tile and vanity colors, and oil rubbed bronze hardware. But, I don’t resonate very strongly with that style, so I wasn’t particularly excited about it.

The second style I thought of was Bohemian. Boho design is so hot right now, and while it isn’t my go-to style (I’m more of a coastal and modern farmhouse girl), I do like it, and it would definitely add some much-needed personality to this bathroom.

MOODBOARD

So, I decided to go with Bohemian style! Here is the mood board I came up with. If you aren’t familiar with Boho style, this post will also help you understand all of the essential elements of Bohemian design.

BATHROOM AFTER

And, here’s my new Bohemian style bathroom!

The first thing I wanted to do was change the walls in some way. Since we couldn’t paint, or add wallpaper, I immediately went to decals. I love how easy decals are to apply (and remove), and there are so many fun options out there. I chose some classic black triangles and opted to create a few double triangles, just for fun.

For the countertop, I added a simple glass vase with some faux Eucalyptus greenery and a candle.

I added more triangle decals on the opposite wall. At first, I had them on all four walls of the bathroom, but it was just too much for the eyes. A little editing was needed.

I not only love the look of these Hearth & Hand (Chip & Joanna’s Target series) soaps and lotions, but they smell fantastic. I love the way the amber glass picks up the amber tones in the floor and mirror.

These fabulous striped hand towels from Wayfair were an easy choice for a Bohemian bathroom. I love the look of them, although they are not the most absorbent towels…

Bohemian style means lots of plants, so we added a draping Pothos plant in the bathroom. We’ll see if it survives my brown thumb.

I loved the black table in my mood board, but it was just too big for the space. So, I made my own version of the table for only $35! I bought a 12″ round pine board for the top, some round wood tapered table legs, and three angled top plates from Home Depot. I spray painted everything black, except for a small area of the legs, which I kept unfinished. Super cute…and just the right size!

Here’s a better view of the rug. It’s the Vern Oriental Terracotta Rug from Wayfair. I love the rust and blue colors in this rug, and the budget-friendly price tag.

Such a fun little makeover! It’s always fun to see a space transform, without having to make major changes. I love that this bathroom now has a very distinct Bohemian personality!

SOURCE LIST

Here’s a list of the items in the room and links to where you can find them. For the entire makeover, we spent just over $200 in decorative accessories. Not bad!
