Happy Friday everyone! It’s Day 2 of my ‘Best of the 2017 Parade of Homes’ series! A place to find beautiful interior design eye candy and creative home ideas for your viewing and pinning pleasure! If you missed the Day 1 of the tour, check out the great ideas and inspiration here. For today, I’ve divided up the pics into categories, and there’s a little bit of everything (except kitchens, I noticed). Enjoy!
Mudrooms
You get to see so many awesome mudrooms on the Parade of Homes tour! Here’s a few for Day 2 that caught my eye. This first one was a gorgeous taupe color. Not a typical color for a mudroom, but so beautiful!
I just loved the shiplap on this next one, and the whitewashed barn door next to made for such a great farmhouse look!
For this next mudroom, I thought it was super creative how they changed the direction of the paneled wood. It added a great unexpected detail
Bathrooms
One trend I’ve seen in almost all of the new construction homes on the tour is LED lighting underneath floating bathroom cabinets. I must say that the effect is really quite beautiful, but I just don’t know if I like the idea of sacrificing a drawer for cool lighting. It would work well in a powder or guest bathroom, though!
The next picture was of a stunning, and enormous master bathroom. I couldn’t fit it all into the picture, but imagine a long countertop with two sinks on the left side of the picture. You know you have a huge bathroom if you can fit an ottoman in the middle of it!
Bedrooms
So many great bedroom ideas on the tour, but today was all about shiplap and creative moulding details in the bedrooms. Loved the taupe shiplap in this first bedroom! I always think of shiplap being white, but this was a really pretty, soft color.
Oh, how I love board and batten! Especially when paired with a cute metal bed frame!
The next bedroom had a beautiful grid feature wall, with a lovely shade of blue-green-gray. Loved it!
Take a look at the creative variation on a grid feature wall in this next room!
This next bedroom was definitely a highlight for me! Check out the amazing floor-to-ceiling paneled wood! I think I actually gasped when I entered this room. It was just stunning! I love the way the wood panels change direction, and then extend up onto the ceiling.
I saw these fun fort beds at two different houses – super cute! It’s gotta be a pain to make those beds though, right?
This next room had a really great feature wall behind the bed. The wall was painted black, with snowy, hand-painted mountain outlines, and a ski run direction sign. Perfect for the young snowboarder or ski lover in your family!
Wine Rooms & Wet Bars
After living in California for the majority of my life, I still find it so cool that the houses here in Colorado have basements. And, pretty much all the basements on the Parade of Homes tour have great wet bars. The room shown in this first picture actually had a table in the middle of the room staged for wine tasting.
Floating shelves seem to be all the rage in the houses this year. I’ve seen them in every type of room, but mostly in the wet bars. ย I love the combination of floating wood shelves and stone in this next wet bar picture.
Any time I see shiplap, a paneled ceiling, and wainscoting all in one room, you know I’ve gotta take a picture! ๐
Other Beautiful Spaces
This fireplace was a real showpiece! The combination of shiplap, floating shelves, and dark wood trim was just yummy!
Same house…more beautiful wood paneling on the ceiling. I thought this was a really great idea, though, because they just framed out a rectangle above the dining room table, rather than going wall-to-wall. Lovely!
Some really cool features in this next room. Check out that great bench along the wall under the window! I also love those vertical wood “beams” on the wall. And the floor was stained concrete – perfect for a basement floor!
These fixed framed chalkboards were in the mudroom/laundry room of one of the houses, and I just loved them! Not only would they be easy to make, but they add so much character! I’m already looking around for walls in my home to do this!
So many fun ideas and beautiful rooms – I just love our Parade of Homes tour! I will have one more post to cover the remaining houses in the tour, so check back soon for the Best of the 2017 Parade of Homes – Day 3. And, if you want to see the beautiful rooms and ideas from last year, take a look at my 2016 Best of Parade of Homes post. Have a great weekend everyone!
Melissa, I always enjoy your posts it’s like getting lessons in decorating. Some of these rooms are really remarkable and even if this is not your style there is always some idea that you can take away. The room with the black wall and white mountains captivated me and I am not a snow boarder but it would make a great room for a young man.
Thanks Mary! I just love all the ideas I get from the Parade of Homes. You are so right! One style may not work perfectly for your home, but there are often elements you can take from the design and apply them to your rooms.
I always enjoy to see how other people out of my country decorate their homes. This post is a great inspiration!!! Thank you for sharing at Sweet Inspiration Link Party ๐

I agree! I love seeing all the different design styles in different countries!
I love your floating shelves, where are they from?
Those beautiful shelves were in a tour home, so I’m not sure where they got them from. Pottery Barn has a great selection of floating shelves, if you’re looking for some. Check them out here.
