When it comes to creating a relaxing bedroom, your wall color plays a powerful role. The color you choose can have a direct impact on how your space feels, whether itโs calm and cozy, or bright and energizing. According to color psychology, neutral tones, pale greens, and soft blues are some of the best bedroom colors because they help promote a sense of peace and restful sleep. In this post, Iโm sharing 12 of my favorite bedroom paint colors that are soothing, sophisticated, and versatile.
As an interior designer, I’m often asked to help choose a beautiful paint color for my clients and students of my online courses. Neutrals (like creamy whites or greiges) are a great choice because they are timeless and flexible, working beautifully with natural materials like wood, rattan, and linen bedding.
On the other hand, different shades of blues or greens can also be an ideal choice, depending on the decorating style of the room. These cool hues mimic nature (think blue skies and lush landscapes), which creates a calming effect thatโs perfect for winding down at the end of the day. Whether your personal style leans coastal, modern, or traditional, the 12 colors in this post (listed in no particular order) can help you strike the perfect balance between cozy and sophisticated.
1. Sherwin-Williams White Duck (SW 7010)
White Duck is a warm off-white with subtle beige and gray undertones, giving it a soft, creamy look without leaning too yellow. Itโs perfect for bedrooms because it adds warmth and coziness while still feeling fresh and airy. White Duck may be the right paint color for you if you prefer lighter shades and a natural look. It’s great for farmhouse, modern organic, or transitional styles, and pairs beautifully with wood accents and woven textures.
2. Benjamin Moore Boothbay Gray (HC-165)
Next up is Benjamin Moore’s Boothbay Gray. This is one of my all-time favorites for a tranquil bedroom! It’s a blue-gray with a classic coastal, yet also a timeless traditional vibe. It has just enough pigment to bring character to your walls, while still feeling super restful. Boothbay Gray is ideal for bedrooms with plenty of natural light, where you want a bit of color and a whole lot of calm. In low-light spaces, it could lose some of its blue color, leaning more into its gray tones.
3. Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee (OC-45)
Swiss Coffee is a soft, creamy white with yellow undertones (and a hint of gray) that prevents it from looking too stark. This designer-favorite feels fresh in daylight and cozy under artificial lighting. Soft whites are ideas for small bedrooms where you want to keep things light and airy. I love using Swiss Coffee in more traditional or transitional interiors, using the same color in a different sheen on the trim for a seamless look. 4. Sherwin-Williams Silver Strand (SW 7057)
Silver Strand is a gorgeous paint color with subtle green and blue undertones. It feels calm and spa-like, but can be a bit of a chameleon, sometimes leaning more gray or more blue-green. Silver Strand pairs beautifully with a wide range of design elements, crisp whites and natural wood tones, and works great with just about any decorating style.
5. Benjamin Moore Venetian Portico (AF-185)
Benjamin Moore’s Venetian Portico is a warm, earthy, pinky-beige with a taupe-brown undertone. This is an old-world color that brings warmth and elegance to a bedroom without feeling heavy. Even with its pink tones, Venetian Portico doesn’t appear overly feminine, and is one of the best colors for creating a romantic, sophisticated look in a bedroom.
6. Sherwin-Williams Keystone Gray (SW 7504)
Keystone Gray from Sherwin-Williams is a mid-tone warm gray with taupe undertones. Itโs grounded and timeless, making it a great bedroom choice for creating a relaxed, comfortable feel. Keystone Gray works great in both rustic and modern spaces with layered textures and darker shades of wood. It has a nicely balanced warmth to it that makes it versatile across many different color schemes.
7. Benjamin Moore Gray Owl (2137-60)
Benjamin Moore’s Gray Owl is a light gray with soft blue and green undertones that give it a cozy quality. This is a color that can shift depending on the lighting, which makes it intriguing and dynamic, But wait you say, aren’t grays a thing of the past? It’s true that today’s trends favor warm neutrals, but this gray is special. It’s a gray, yes, but it’s not a cold or sterile gray. Itโs perfect for Scandinavian, coastal, or transitional interiors that favor a crisp, clean backdrop. Check out my full review of BM Gray Owl for more.
8. Benjamin Moore Stone Hearth (984)
Benjamin Moore’s Stone Hearth is a sophisticated, warm greige with brown and taupe undertones. This popular shade adds instant coziness and elegance to a bedroom and works especially well with darker wood tones and soft, creamy whites. Use this beautiful neutral color in modern farmhouse or transitional bedrooms with an upholstered headboard and lots of cozy textiles.
9. Sherwin-Williams Sea Salt (SW 6204)
Sea Salt is a hugely popular gray-green thatโs light and airy. This soft, pale green can look more blue-green or more gray, depending on your lighting, and its gray tones keep it from feeling too minty or pastel. Itโs one of the best bedroom paint colors because it instantly feels calming…like a breath of fresh air. Sea Salt is one of the most commonly used colors in coastal style homes, but it’s great for any style home where you want to create a spa-like retreat.
10. Benjamin Moore Solitude (AF-545)
Benjamin Moore’s Solitude is a soft, dusty blue with a hint of gray, giving it a nice, grown-up feel. It’s a sophisticated blue that won’t make your bedroom look like a kids room. Solitude is a great way to add some color in your bedroom without overwhelming the space. Pair it with crisp whites and other neutral colors for a peaceful, perfect sleep. BM Solitude is a perfect gray-blue paint color for classic, coastal, or cottage-style bedrooms.

11. Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog (SW 9130)
Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog is a gorgeous, muted green thanks to its gray undertones. It’s a bit darker, so it gives a moody yet soft look. It feels grounded and natural, which makes it an amazing choice for bedrooms that aim for a relaxed, earthy, and modern look. Evergreen Fog is one of the best green paint colors on the market, and is perfect for organic modern or boho-inspired bedrooms, especially when paired with natural wood, stone, and cozy textiles.
12. Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige (SW 7036)
